I currently work for Tesco and they claim my p60 form wont come in till February, and my tax hasn't been sorted yet. Each week im fleeced with tax. I've been working for almost 7 weeks and nobody seems to be able to help. The tax office can't do anything until the P60 arrives, but the managers seem to think that it won't arrive till the end of February. Any ideas?

It is a P45 from your previous job that caused the issue rather than p60.

P60 covers the whole year, if there were changes/gaps in employment P45 covers that.

This is my first job. I don’t think I have any p45 forms.

So, Tesco are your employer and it seemingly takes at least a month to issue p60s.

I was going to ask how large the organisation was, mine take a couple of weeks and there are 70 staff, we usually get ours the end of January.

You won't have a p45 then based on this being your first job. It's a pain, but y oh well be sure money back from last year.

I usually do my end of year taxes online at www.revenue.ie but I can't do them until I have my p60. You log on and they send you a password, it's worth checking out once you have your p.60.

Then you should be sorted, but it's a pain waiting.

I’m not looking forward to waiting, but there’s nothing that can be done. And will I receive the tax I paid last year too? Since I started before the new year.

And you can request that now by logging in to revenue.ie Make sure you set up an account if you don't already have one.

You might try to register on Revenue website and as soon as the amount earned last year shows up there request a balancing statement, P21 I think (haven't done one in a while so if I am not correct apologies).

This providing your tax credits are correctly set up, but if you just started you shouldn't pay any taxes for last year.

Employers have until February 15 to issue p60s

Op have you contacted revenue and asked them to issue you a tax credits cert?

Have you contact revenue to give them your employer number? Once they have your employment registered they will automatically issue your tax credits to Tesco and you will pay the correct tax going forward.

    That's correct; P21

It was before christmas that i went to the tax office and they said it was too late in the year to get my tax back. and they said i would need my p60 to get my tax back. Unfortunately, today tesco let me go. They lead me to believe that i was working full time. I guess not. All i need now is my p60

No you also need a p45 now for this year.

I received "Amended tax credit certificate" from revenue on my "myaccount". I'm wondering if that has anything to do with how much ill receive in tax or its not important?

As you are no longer employed by Tesco you need to do 2 things.

1 Wait for your p60 from Tesco for 2017 and then request a p21 balancing statement from Revenue for 2017 using your Revenue my account. This should refund you any overpayment of tax for 2017.

    https://www.revenue.ie/en/jobs-and-pensions/getting-a-paye-balancing-statement-p21/index.aspx

2 You will need your form p45 from Tesco for 2018 to deal with the overpayment relating to 2018. Submit it along with a completed form p50 to Revenue.

    https://www.revenue.ie/en/jobs-and-pensions/periods-of-unemployment/how-to-claim-a-tax-and-usc-refund-if-you-are-unemployed.aspx

Next time you get a job ensure you register the employment with revenue as soon as possible.

    Hi OP
Something that I am wondering from your replies - have you registered with the tax office at all? You mentioned that this is your first job.
