Anyone own a new-ish Scenic, with 20" wheels?

This is on my list of possibilities, but was shocked to see it has 20" alloys.

Is it a very bumpy ride?

And how much more of a premium do you pay for tyres that size?

I'd have thought only Range Rover or X5 drivers would know that pain, not Scenic drivers.

The ride isn't bad and unsurprisingly holds the road fairly well.

Tyres will be saucy, which your typical Scenic driver won't be expecting. They will be fond of tyres too, I'd expect to be buying two with every service. You do see a fair few Kadjars with 19's and 20's in for first services with 2mm left on the tyres.

They're still a 195/55 tyre so wouldn't be extra bumpy

Premium brands would be around €140-160 fitted.

18s are 160 upwards for any decent brand, would hate to see the 20" prices

They're not as bad as some of the really wide and low profile fitment as you'd usually see with 20s.

Can't see that ride being good or looking good TBH.

They only really suit large SUVs or sports cars IMO.

They're these new type of narrow big wheels. Probably gonna become more common.

    BMW i3 has 155/70 R19 and 155/60 R20

As said earlier, think it looks well.

I didn't notice the wheels being big until I read their size in the spec.

They aren't that bad on the road and the 20's don't even look out of place on it.

Nearly all the Kadjars with 225/45 r19s in for its first service will need tyres. The Scenics have 195/55 r20 but don't seem to be wearing near as fast as the Kadjars.

A large diameter wheel providing it had a high sidewall tyre should be more comfortable as it will ride over bumps and potholes rather than into them.

I recall reading that Renault had made some advance deals with Tyre manufacturers to supply tyres at a reasonable cost because renaults designer insisted on the large diameter alloys. Worth checking with the garage in this.

There are at least 3 premium brands plus Uniroyal doing tyres in this size.
