I was fishing on the canal the other day and seen 3 birds in the water. they were white and maybe half to 3/4 size of a swan. They had red bills with a bit of black at the top of the bill. They looked a bit like geese. Ive never seen them before on the canals and i fish a good bit. Phone died so i couldnt take a picture.

I was going towards Berwick Swan until the 'red bills'. Could they have been domestic geese?

No expert here, but domestic geese sounds about right. Can’t think of any other bird that would fit the bill (badoom tish).

thanks for the replies... i googled muscovy duck and im nearly sure thats them...

Apparently Muscovy ducks escaped into the wild many years ago and are found on waterways in Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare.
