2014 Auris Hybrid - Cork service?

Any recommendations on where to service a 2014 Auris Hybrid in Cork? It has 77k miles on the clock. Usually no point going to a main dealer at this stage. From what I know there's no real difference and nothing more complicated with hybrid drivetrain.

Any good Toyota independents around? There used to be a guy up by the airport but not sure if he's still in business.

If it's miles, is it a UK import with a 5 year warranty vs 3 on an Irish model?

Well spotted colm_mcm! Yes its a UK import - brought in last year. So Toyota Ireland are legally obliged to keep up the 5 year warranty if kept serviced at main dealers?

    Yes, I believe so.

Don't think so. If the last 2 years of the warranty were only offered by Toyota UK then Toyota Ireland who are a different distributor to Toyota UK are not obliged to honour it.

I'd enquire with a Toyota dealer around the cost of a hybrid inspection. Lexus extend the warranty on their hybrid drivetrain as part of a service inspection so Toyota may do the same.

Far as I know it's just a straight 5 years like Hyundai do.

As far as I know, Toyota Ireland has to bill Toyota GB because they are separate companies. Toyota are one of the few manufacturers which still get a third party to import cars into Ireland (Mercedes being the other most notable manufacturer), whereas almost every other car brand imports the cars here themselves - and that makes this kind of thing more straightforward.

So depending on the dealer, they may not want the hassle. I'm not saying you won't be covered but I wouldn't be completely confident they will either because of the hassle involved. Usually the UK is more generous than other countries for new car warranties and the additional warranty is only backed by the local importer (Toyota GB) rather than by the manufacturer at an EU wide level (so if the car was newer there would be no problem because Toyota Europe would ultimately foot the bill).

Also, being a UK car, some suspension components may be different and they will be special orders - Irish cars used to come with a rough road pack (UK cars don't) and they ride higher than the UK cars, but I think Toyota changed that several years ago when we switched to CO2 based taxation (the rough road pack increased CO2 emissions).

Best thing you can do is phone a Toyota dealer and find out.

A lot of times they need to get pre approval from Toyota UK for bigger jobs.

Well ask Lehane Motors. They are the same family as Macroom Motors who have a long Toyota history. Always found them helpful.

I would be sticking to main dealer with a 4 year old complicated car - you could also try kearys - friend gets her 2010 Prius serviced there.

An Auris hybrid is less complicated than any diesel car but if there is extended hybrid warranty available beyond the 5 years like there is in the uk if you do the annual hybrid check then it’s worth getting it done in the dealer.

Isn't there a hybrid battery warranty of 8 years if you get it serviced at a toyota authorised service center?

Think it’s 10 or 11 years on the Lexus ones anyway

Hybrid components are only guaranteed by Toyota Ireland for 5 years or 100,000 km

Don't forget op, when you get a hybrid health check, younget a 1 year/15000km guarantee on it.
Or if you have your Speedo in mph you get 10000 mile guarantee.

They were doing free hybrid checks with every service.
Also a courtesy car for an admin fee of €10.
