    hi

I am now in 6th year and I moved schools last summer. I have half of the the biology experiments written up from 5th year in my old school. it is a struggle for me to do the biology practicals in my new school due to my timetable. does anyone know if I would get away just writing up the rest of my experiments on my own and not actually doing them or if I get called up could I get in serious trouble for this and not be allowed to sit biology LC in june

    thanks

It depends on whether your centre is chosen to be checked.
It's fairly unlikely but not impossible.

AFAIK, Maynooth used to do a weekend course where they would do all the experiments for people in the same situation as you. It might be worth investigating it.

what would be the ramifications of only have doing half of the experiments but having the whole practical book completed. do you know what the official rules are like is just writing them up enough or no?

do you know when they ask for them?

They visit schools looking at them. I'd have to check the relevant Chief Examiner's Reports, but if required work has not been done, they would withhold results until it is investigated, as they would in any other similar situation.

Who would have signed that you did the experiments, not just wrote them up?

Like I said, it's unlikely you would be checked, but not impossible and to be honest, all the more likely if they think lots of people are dodging doing the experiments.

I have done more than half of them though so Its not like I did none.

do you have to get every single experiment signed off on or do they just sign the book do you know

AFAIK they fill in a form with all the names of each person sitting the exam.

There is still time to get them done. Maybe ask your teacher what they think?

There are no checks for LC science exams at present, just JC Science.

The Biology exam is a three hour paper worth 400 marks and that’s the whole grade.

Section B is worth 60 marks and is based on the 22 Mandatory Experiments.
There are three questions in Section B and you must do 2.

There’s still plenty of time for you to do the write ups and I would recommend fat you do as you will find it very difficult to do well in the paper without knowing your experiments, which could also be asked in Section C - the Long Questions.

why the did my teacher say that they can ask to see if they have been done properly.?

I have fully completed my experiment book and I have written them all up in full. However I have actually physically only done 12 of them in my old school . I have done physically done the others
