Anyone else suffering from itchy irritated eyes in Limerick?
There's a few people I know in the Mungret area.

I don't think it's going to be related but for what its worth, yeah me. Northsidish of the city.

I'm putting it down to chlorine in the water. The water from my shower is STINKING of bleach.

Yeah I've been getting it the last few weeks myself, would be on the North side.

I know some people who have complained of the same. I wonder if local GP's have noticed more patients presenting with these symptoms.

I noticed that there is some work going on in the docks that's generating a hell of a lot of dust. There's also what must be hundreds of tonnes of crushed glass (from car dismantling presumably) on the quayside awaiting transportation. Anyway, you'd hope that whatever is going on there is being monitored closely and not causing public health issues.

The water in my kitchen sink smells horrible. Bleach type smell as well. So bad that I actually bought a five litre bottle of water in Tesco earlier for the kettle. There's a 'fishy' smell coming from the sink too, As in, literally smells like fish!

God knows what we're ingesting everyday  No wonder so many people are sick with serious illnesses these days.

Less people sick with serious illness now than ever before. Age expectancy higher now than ever before. But ya the government are poisoning us all to death

I presume the agenda behind this thread is the cement factory?

Well, I've no agenda against the Cement Factory. I'm quite undecided about their plans. Friends have complained of itchy eyes though. And I doubt those noting the bleachy taste of tap water are pointing the finger at Irish Cement either.

I've got no 'agenda' against anywhere or anyone, but I really don't agree that there are less people now with serious illness than ever before. The amount of people suffering with cancer in one form or another is terrifying.
Anyway, I'm not getting into a debate about it. The OP asked if anyone was suffering from itchy eyes, another poster thought that water may be responsible and from personal experience I agreed.

Corbally. I always praised the quality of Limerick water but last year or so it has massively declined IMO. Had Irish Water out to test.... something about increased chlorine as it was weak at the end of the line...

Stopped drinking it about 6 months ago, Tesco bottled water now. Found the Aldi stuff had tons of lime but that's a different thread.

True wouldn't trust the water, usually drink bottled all the time anyway. The stuff they dump on crops nowadays it's no surprise.

was at specialist recently (getting a blob of weld removed from my eye) and he said the following

Itchy eyes is a sign of an allergic reaction to something

sore eyes is a sign of infection or having something in them

I've had itchy dry eyes which i had assumed was from laser surgery i had, but it turns out i had an allergy.
6 months of eye drops twice a day. and my eyes have never felt better.
