Question about FIS

    Hi all.
I'm just reading through Citizens Info about FIS. It says that they take the last 52 weeks gross pay from my Dec payslip/P60 to calculate. But i was on Maternity Leave for the first 6 months of this year so my gross pay on my payslip is only about 10k. How do they calculate it in this case, do they go by 2016s pay?

Also, my husband is doing his Masters and not working, but he gets 10k a year from the college, is that also included in the means test?

They can see if you were on maternity leave from their own records but I always included the letter from the social welfare.

You'll need to include any of your partner's means. Always better to tell them Upfront.

Of course. I'm not at all sure I'll get anything tbh but it doesn't hurt to try. So how do they calculate the average? Obviously MB is considerably less than what I earn, so do they just take what I earned when i went back to work and double it? If so i think that brings our combined earnings to about 30k so i don't think we get anything then.

I know my FIS was higher based on the year I was on maternity and then it was lowered again when I renewed the following year. They work out an average weekly income which will be on the letter they send you so if you think it's way off you can appeal it.

It's worth a try anyway. Me and my husband are both working and we still qualify for a payment on it.
