Hi all, I'm trying to decide whether to buy a UK used leaf, my commute is over 100 k, although I work shift so don't go every day. I have been tempted to purchase one in the UK but have been reading this forum who have advised against buying a 24 kw one for long journeys, all views appreciated. i am looking at a 2014 Acenta.

100km would be tight. Do-able, but with no room for error.

I find that the range on my 24kWh LEAF is between 100-130km from a full charge, depending on variables within my control (speed) and outside my control (weather).

I have a 60km round trip most days. If I had 100km to do every day, I’d have gone for a 30kwh LEAF, just for peace of mind. If your budget can go that far, I’d recommend a 30kwh version for your use case, if possible.

Are there any public chargers along your commute, or (even better) at your work place? Having a charger at work would mean a 24kWh would most likely do you fine.

Thanks, yes there is a charger along the route and in work also, so charging it should not be a problem, just nervous. i cant afford the 30kw one, and agree it would be more suitable

Maybe get a small credit union loan to bridge the gap to the 30kw Leaf and pay it back with the savings on tax/fuel after you make the switch?

If the commute is 100km each way, I would not recommend a 24kWh Leaf. Charging the car half way will get very old, very quick, as you will not want to risk running out of power if you don't stop to charge.

If the commute is 50km each way, then the 24kWh Leaf will do the job very well with work charging and I would recommend one.

Agreed. If it’s 50km each way with a charger at work (and assuming a charger at home too), then a 24 should be fine.

But the 30kwh or keep driving your ice. And save up for the right machine. Or ask your friendly Credit Union
Do go to UK as Vrt is free and make sure your car has the 12 bars of battery capacity
