I'm looking to see if there is a standard alternative to the zenon dipped beam bulb!
Its €68 in motor factors, about £25 on ebay - but will any standard bulb work?
there is an inner lens over the dipped bulb
    thanks

No a standard bulb will not work. Buy the bulb on eBay, £25 isn’t exactly expensive for a HID bulb.

Your car is obviously a higher end model for it to have HID’s in 04 so why would you want to fit a standard halogen bulb in it?

Xenon replacement all the way, what your looking at doing would be like replacing your lighting in your house with candles.

You are correct, its a ghia 1.8 sci. I will be testing it and trying to flog it in a few weeks so if I could avoid spending near 10% of the car value (£25=€30 approx, car not worth much above 300 quid) on a bulb - by using an effective alternative, that would make sense. If theres no alternative so be it.
    Thanks
