On retrospect its probably not a great sign that KO, sub, event and upset of the year were so clearcut. Shows that it probably wasn't the best year in mma to be fair.

Newcomer of the Year: Cynthia Calvillo. Disappointing loss the other week, but she came from nowhere, won 3 on the bounce impressively and made a name for herself.
Comeback Fighter of the Year: GSP, long layoff, comes back and whoops Bisping to end the worst reign of a champion ever.
Disappointment of the Year: Conor acting like gollum with the ring trying his best to never defend a belt. #Defendofvacate
Moment of the Year: Rose's "Ain't nothing special here" post fight speech. Beat the breaks off of JJ and then showed total humility.

Submission of the Year: The real answer is of course DJ subbing Borg but the child in me soared when I seen the Walls of Jericho ended that local UK show fight.

Event of the Year: UFC 217

Upset of the Year: Thug Rose claiming the strawweight title

Newcomer of the Year: Cynthia Calvillo. Complete unknown this time last year and ends the year top ten in the division.

Comeback Fighter of the Year: Should be GSP but seeing as he looks like he won't be fighting again I'll go with Khabib. Over a year away from the cage and came back and just beat the breaks off a top 5 opponent like it was a sparring session.

Disappointment of the Year: The very meh year in general for MMA. Very few huge fights to get excited about, the log jam at MW and LW, too many events causing a watering down of cards. Not a year to write home about.

Moment of the Year: Kevin Lee jawing at Micheal Chiesa at that press conference in May, insulting Chiesa's mother and causing a punch up between the two just for the sheer WTF is going on here.
