Huge Increase in Insurance Premium

    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone had any joy with knocking down huge premium increases?

6 Year old springer got auto-immune disease last year and after 6 months eventually pulled through. Approximately €2500 in insurance claims.

Renewal is around and the premium has risen from €250 to €800.

Now I accept that I made claims and it will rise, but the vet mentioned something about the insurers "obligation to fairness" or something along those lines and says shes shocked at a 3 fold increase. Ringing them in the new year to see can I get any joy out of them but just wondering if anyone else has any experience of similar situations.

    Hi op,
As per the sticky at the top of the page, the company you are referring to has instructed Boards HQ that posters may not discuss their company here, or they will invoke legal proceedings... https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056955319

For this reason, I will remove any reference to said company from your post, so that general discussion about premium increases can continue. But please all, be aware that the company-that-must-not-be-named, must not be named!
    Thanks,
    DBB

I’d call them and query it - you’ve nothing to lose? I know others have done the same with other companies and they’ve revised the renewal. I’ve claimed 11-12k(!) over the last 8 years with Allianz and we pay about €600. It went up €200 this year but was actually down €100 last year - I chalked that down to a mistake and they were taking it back this year so fair enough lol! We had 2-3k in claims last year as he had knee surgery. I wouldn’t be without it.
