I’ve a castlegarden 36inch now probably 15/16 years, Briggs & Stratton engine and needed nothing but a few services, one drive belt and petrol.
We have a castlegarden self propelled, also B&S engine, it’s 21 years old with nothing but servicing.

Mountfield, Stiga, Castlegarden, Atco and Alpina are all made by GGP in Italy. Personally found Castlegarden to be very reliable, Mountfield less so but came with a 5 year guarantee at the time so any issues were sorted free. Hydrostatic engine is worth the extra money imo. as is a mulching plug. Personally prefer collecting clippings the majority of the time but occasionally mulching comes in handy.
