Dormer Bungalow Storage Space

I'm thinking of cutting a crawl space into the eves of a dormer bungalow to use it as storage. Has anyone ever done this? Are you limited to the space between the studs for the crawl space?

    Any pointers or tips?

Most dormers have this , it gives you as much space as is in there.

There can be useful space, depending on the pitch of the roof, but you won't generally have enough space to both crawl and store. Put in a door, or two, somewhere convenient and just use the immediately accessible space.

Thanks for the replies folks, what I'd really like to know is am I limited by the width of the stud space or is it possible to go wider with appropriate support for the cut off stud?

Most have a cut off stud. Then a hinged door with draft exclusion. Great job . Some houses have 3 or 4
