Loader for. NH7740

Folks the digger has been getting sick a lot lately so I was thinking of getting a loader for the tractor as it will be cheaper than trading up for a newer digger.

The loaders we had previously on tractors were all controlled via the spool valve so I was wondering what the normal connection for a 7740. I don't want to use the spools as I want to be able to use them for other jobs as there is only 2 pairs.

There is a blank on the flow and return lines to the spools, can I just connect the loader manifold pipes to these?

As for positioning the controls it area around the gears would make the most sense but would it get in the way of the gear handles? Other spot would be to the side of the steering wheel but I don't want to block access to the fuse board, anyone try having it on the left of the wheel?

Not sure on the connections but I think you can t into the pipe that feeds the spook block and just plumb the return into the filler neck if there is a blank in it.

As for the joystick our ts which would be similar enough on the gears had it mounted just in front of the seat arm rest, it did foul a small bit if the tractor was in reverse or second and you tried to lower the loader and dump the bucket at the same time, but wasn’t too bad really either.

I would say if you can I’d try mount it to the seat it’s the way ours is now and it’s great as it stays with you no matter how much you bounce around. If you were clever with the mount you could position it to tilt in over your leg ever so slightly to give a bit more clearance on the gears

Does it get in the way of the controls for the arm? I have noticed a connection through the floor of the cab around that area tha might work.

I'll take a pic of the one in my ts tomorrow, just sitting nicely at the end of the armrest too and not in the way of anything.

I know it’s not the clearest but if you look at the in cab shot in this add it’s pretty much exactly what we had and I’ve been in a 7740 with it in the very same position. On the ts it bolted to the face of the step under the seat, I think there was actually threaded holes there for it as I know ours was a quicke bracket and they generally made it to suit what was there already. I personally don’t like them mounted out beside the steering wheel as I find my arm gets tired very quickly if doing any amount of work and I’d sacrifice it clashing with a gear lever an odd time to have it comfortable to use

Would it it an issue if you hit it by accident when changing directions?

Not that likely to happen, when the joystick is in its neutral position it’s a bit away from the gear levers. Your more likely to hit your knuckles off the gear lever if it’s in reverse and your tipping out the bucket but generally you’d have to be going pretty hard on the lever to slap it out hard enough to feel any pain or risk knocking it out of gear.

I don’t think it is that simple. There is a small little pipe that also goes into the factory chest that controls a semi closed centre system on the dual power ones. I think the sle has a different full ccls system then.

When I plumbed in extra (factory type) spools into the ts I needed to get the small pipe connected before I got pressure.

Here's the way mine is fixed.

Cheers for that. The 7740 is an sle and the shuttle lever is next to the throttle handle. I'll put on a makeshift lever and see how it fits

Have been quoted €4K for a quickie q40 and €3k for a rossmore fl60. Both about 15 years old and in good condition. Plus fitting and implemts that could be and extra €1k.

Would prefer the quickie as they are a better loader but my budget is about €3.5k so hard to justify the extra money although I don't want to by bucket of sh1t.

Any thoughts. Uncle has a an fl80 rossmore and I find it a bit aqkward, neighbour has a fl45 on a ford 6610 and its just a bit too small.

Is it like comparing a Renault and VW and I be better off getting the expensive one and have it last longer?

Them rossmore fl 60 are mighty strong loader ,paint work might be a bit iffy on them .I would consider fl 60 ideal for a 7740 and it would see you out !!!Have any of them loaders self leveling or soft drive .Self leveling handy for loading round bales and soft drive for road work .Would that model q40 not be newer then 15 years???

Buy a quicke. 1000 won't buy many implements. 660 plus vat for a 6' bucket , again go quicke they are the only ones that are tapered at the sides so the stuff doesn't stick. 300 for a spike. The worlds the limit for a dung grape, 1000 plus for a soft hands. If your buying off a garage or dealer most will fit for around 300. Snap the hand of them as I decided to fit my own and spent it on bits and pieces. If it doesn't have soft ride you can buy the pot for around 150 and there's nothing to fitting them , actually more work making brackets up to mount them than anything else. From my own experience I regret not going new. You'll buy a basic brand new quicke for around 6 plus the vat. If you can work the books it's the best option.

Both sound decent value, but go for the Rossmore and spend the savings on the fitting and implements? Get a soft ride fitted as well, much more comfortable and less stress on the tractor & on the loader

Are either of them self levelling, if so, go with that one.

Might try to suss out a price for a new one but will have to see what the money would be like. Can't claim back the vat so buying new isn't always an option

About €10k for a new quicke so that outta my price range

Both have soft ride but don't have self levelling, which is great and I'd be used to it from the digger

I have a 7740 at home and can take a picture of how the joystick is attached if it helps. Its attached to a bar coming straight up from the floor of the cab which i think you've mentioned.

I rotated the top of the Forward-Neutral-Reverse lever as sometimes it got in the way when moving the joystick to the right. It was nothing major and for 12 years was never a problem, over the Christmas I had some time on my hands and replaced the joystick and moved this while I was at it. I'm sure you could add a slight curve to the bar to take it away from the gear levers if you felt it was necessary.

    Thanks,

What loader do you have on it?

Sorry for the delay. Sent on some pictures there in a DM. We have a Tanco T80, has been on it for the past 12 years. Would suggest a better loader than that obviously but the tractor itself is good with a loader. Weight is distributed very well and has enough power to lift wet bales. Have been on other newer tractors that tip forward when any weight is added to the loader.

Thanks, I do like that about the 7740, good weight on it espically when doingtillageormower work, will probably need to make up a weight box though

Decided against getting it, time will tell if that's a good idea or not. Think it may be better to hold on to the money for a while and keep it for an upgrade of the tractor to one with a wet clutch and power shuttle as these are better for loader work so maybe a TS100. I do like them and reckon they are a better loader tractor than the 7740
