    Hello!

Not getting married til 2020 but trying to get a budget estimate. I'm hoping to rent my wedding dress but I don't know anyone personally who has done this. Can anyone recommend anywhere and what price would I be looking at? I've tried searching but its always 'contact us for prices'!

Do Covet still hire bridal dresses, maybe you could check with them

Is there a reason you want to rent?

The reason I ask is if you're not getting married until 2020 that's piles of time to pick up a lovely dress in sales/second hand etc and it will fit you far far better than a rental dress. I'm not talking sentimentality here, but it's very much like mens suits- rentals always look "off", they're never tailored properly.

    Thanks.
The reason is money, Im being incredibly stingy with my wedding budget. I'll have a look into second hand, but my preference would be renting as I like the idea of handing it back afterwards!

I'd be surprised if it's that cheap - the dry cleaning alone on bridal dresses costs a few hundred so I can't imagine renting a dress would be cheaper than buying a dress off ASOS or second hand or in sales.

i totally understand that, but like another poster have said I'd be wary of the quality you'll get for a cheap price on wedding dress rentals.

If you want a "gown" you'll pay for it either way (if it's any way decent quality), but if you're looking outside the box i'd highly recommend sites like Lindybop- they do fab quality dresses and their sale prices are excellent. My wife got a "2nd day" dress that TBH if it was her actual dress would've looked perfect too.

Also nothing to stop you selling any dress on again, making your money back or close to it.

Thanks all. The base price quoted in the link shared by rubberdragon was EUR175 and that included dry cleaning but Ill keep all my options open. Plenty of time luckily :)

How about going somewhere like Oxfam Bridal? You're still buying the dress but at a much lower price.

Amazing idea thank you! I currently live in London so I'll have a look here before I move home at the end of the year!

If you live in London, go to charity shops in affluent areas. London is rampant with dresses, even vintage shops on Brick Lane have some. I can't remember prices, but I know I tried some on and even considered buying one and dying it (was in my early 20s and not a potential bride at the time) so I definitely would have been looking at options not more than 50 quid.

I was looking to rent, but Covet's website list everything at 350 to rent (if my memory serves me) and I didn't like anything I saw there. My plan is to look in Oxfam Bridal and Barnardos Bridal. If I was still in London (or the UK), I'd be looking around in charity shops, I'm positive you'd get an absolute bargain. If you don't need it until 2020 and you're moving home the end of this year, you could at least have your research done as to where to look, and then go hunting closer to the time when you visit some friends (though Brexit might confuse things by then).
