Why do some people put this dude's image in their windscreens? How does he help drivers and/or their passengers/dogs etc?

Is he the patron saint of travellers?

    I'm not a Catholic so I don't understand.

It's the whole bi-location thing. Lazy sods are hoping they won't have to turn the keys at all.

about 30 years ago, my uncle was crossing the checkpoint between Lifford and Strabane when he was stopped by the army, and a soldier asked him why he had a picture of Gerry Adams on his windscreen. He was pulling the piss of course.

I have one on my car. Was there when I bought it. Was going to take it off but my Mother was like "don't take that off, it's bad luck!". She's not even religious..

I know a lot of folk put a lot of faith in the man to cure serious illnesses. His mitts do the rounds a lot in Ireland.

My cousins aunt had very serious cancer about 30yrs ago, she got the mitt and recovered. Still alive today. The family all claim it was the mitt and nothing but the mitt. Little credit is given to the doctors, nurses, cancer specialists etc who treated her, or the medicines they put into her.

My own aunt got same mitt about 5 yrs later and died about 2 weeks after. No blame was ever put on the mitt, or faith in it lost. It was God's will apparently.

No, I don't understand it all either.

During WW2 he has been attributed with appearing in the sky and stopping air raids from happening.

During the last Irish presidential election I overheard a girl speculating as to why there was so many cars driving around with David Norris stickers.
