Hi folks I have attached a picture of my soon to be sitting room and was looking for advice on a 5.1 speaker set up. The tv will be located above an electric stove in the centre of the room. Also could you recommend me a tv, av receiver and speaker package for approx 2000e. Thanks in advance.

Will be an electric fire so not alot of heat from it. Will also be fitting a mantel so that will also help deflect heat away from the tv.

    Hey Kevh1987.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I'm always a bit cautious when it comes to mounting televisions above any form of heat source.

Where do you plan on the A/V receiver and your sources being placed?

The chair with its back to the mantel, is this going to be re-positioned once the TV is mounted as viewing from this angle will be difficult without turning around.

Normally for 5.1 you would have the front left and right either side of the television or there abouts. The centre would need to go below the television in your set up and above it would be too high and fire the sound over your head. The centre speaker does pretty much all the speech.
Your rears could go on the wall facing the TV. Positioning of these might need to be done when setting up to try and gauge the best position and sound for the room. Make sure they are not mounted too high also.

You could go for something like the Sony STRDN1080 paired with the Monitor Audio Mass 5.1 for £899 (Excellent setup).

Or the 1080 paired with the Q Acoustics 7000i plus pack priced at £1099.00

There are also package options using the Denon AVRX2400 with the Mass 5.1 priced at £789.00

In terms of a television, what size are you thinking?

Perhaps something like the Samsung 55MU7000 currently on sale for £799

Or go all out as the LG OLED55B7 has just dropped to £1399.00
    https://www.richersounds.com/lg-oled55b7v.html

Pair the OLED along with the AVRX2400 and the Mass and you would have a very excellent set up and just a little over budget at £2188.00.

    Let me know your thoughts.
