    Hello,

I am moving but our new home is mid build (not connected). Can I do the following?
Take a gas and electricity reading
ring for final bill at this address
Transfer charges to new address which is not connected? (send bills online)
Pay a standing charge or minimal charges to avoid having to do a whole new setup when we move in?

    Thanks.

    Hi NelRom,

    Thanks for your message.

If you would like to close an account at one property, we can complete this for you here, via private message.

In order for us to complete this, could you please provide us with the following details?
    • Your full name
    • Your Electric Ireland account number
    • Your address
    • A forwarding address for the final bill
    • Your date of birth or contact telephone number
    • Confirmation you are the account holder (yes/no)
    • Meter readings taken the day you left the property
    • The name and telephone number of the person responsible for the energy supply once you leave, this can be the property owner, letting agent, estate agent, or a solicitor
We can then close the account for you.

Alternatively, the Electric Ireland Customer Service team (available to call on 1850 372 372) can also close the above account, and open an account at your new address. Their opening hours can be viewed online here.

The Electric Ireland Customer Service team will require the Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) of the property, in order to open an account for the premises. Once the account is opened, and all relevant documentation submitted (the Customer Service team would outline this in detail for you), ESB Networks would be in touch to organise the connection of the property.

We hope this helps. Should you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige

    Hi Brige,

If you read again, you'll see my question is not exactly an account close, can you please take another look?

    Hi NelRom,

    Thank you for your post.

When you're moving out of your current address, you can close your accounts with the steps outlined in my colleague Brige's post above.

Regarding your new address, it is not possible to register with a billing company until the supply is connected/ready to be connected.

We recommend closing your current account and contacting Electric Ireland Sales team once your supply is ready to be connected. Our colleagues in the Sales department will be happy to arrange this for you on 1850 30 50 90. They will need the new property's MPRN.

We can reuse your previous Electric Ireland account number, so you will still be able to access Your Account Online.

    We hope this helps.

Should you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Anna
