CX-5 scrappage or trade in offers

Looking to purchase SUV at some stage in new year. Probably second half of year as want to have about 10k saved.

Willing to take loan of 20 - 25k on top of this.

Have wife's 02 BMW 316ti compact to trade in. (150k miles)

Originally was thinking Tuson with bells and whistles for about 35k with about 4K scrappage offer for BMW.
Bringing total price close to 30k.

Do Mazda or any dealers selling them offer similar scrappage or trade in deals as good as this?

We prefer look of cx5 and from online reviews I've seen it seems to come out a little better overall.

See attached image of cx5 I configured, is this realistic price in Ireland from a dealer?

    Thanks

I know someone that had and changed it recently.
I asked him why he changed and he replied "rust".

Did he give any more details?
    Rust where?
    How old was it?

Unfortunately he didn't go into the details.
    It was 2015 I think.
I don't bump into him too often but if I do I'll ask him more about it.

    Are concerned about resale value?

Those Mazda's give plenty of terminal engine trouble as well.... My advice to anybody wanting a new or newish SUV is to make sure you get a good long parts and labour warranty with it!

No, would be looking to keep it for as long as it would go!

OP is looking at a petrol one. It should be reliable enough being a mazda with a petrol engine.

Ah right, i missed that bit!

Those Mazda Skyactiv high compression petrol engines are bit of an unknown quantity here regarding reliability as they have sold little or none of them. My main concern would be in years to come when the warranty is well up and something goes wrong, your at the mercy of bringing it to a main dealer to be looked at (assuming even they know how to fix it) as I cannot see any local or backstreet garage having the foggiest on how to fix something complex with it.

Could be a bit of doom and gloom scaremongering but something to be aware of all the same. In saying all that, the petrol is probably a safer bet than a Mazda diesel.

And the 1.6 petrol in the Tucson is supposed to be pretty underwhelming. Don't they only do it in base spec too?

Even though they are old at this stage and a new one must not be too far away, a Toyota Rav4 hybrid would seem a better choice. I'd say you would probably get a better scrappage deal from Toyota than Mazda too.

Yep, the Rav4 uses the same drivetrain as the IS300h so is well proven

    Toyota all the way!

Toyota seem to be pushing the RAv4 hybrid at the moment, so def worth a look.

Yeah think you could be right colm, another reason why I probably won't go for the tuson.

Im an awful divil for aesticics, especially when spending 35k!
CX-5 is far more pleasing on the eye to my shallow self!
Obviously not going to buy something purely on this but as far as I have researched the Mazda petrol are fairly reliable.

Used (nearly new) Lexus NX should be considered. Same drivetrain as th Rav bit posher. Good value in Charles Hurst Lexus Belfast

Honda HRV 1.5vtec ex spec for €31k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

HRV is smaller than a CX-5, Rav4, etc. HRV is similar in size to a CX-3. CRV is similar in size to CX-5, Rav4 but is being replaced by a new model in mid 2018.
