Audi A3 09 engine light and loss of power

Hi all, hope someone can shed some light on this. I have a 09 a3 TFSI with 180k km on the clock that has been giving me some trouble.. :(

I recently sent it in for its service and since getting the car back I can feel a distinct lack of acceleration when overtaking/ speeding up. It feels very sluggish and dead when it was once nippy and full of power. Just last Saturday while driving on the M4 the Engine Check Light came on and stayed on. I've checked the fuel cap and that is fine. The light is still on.

I know I have to bring it back in to get a diagnostic done to read the codes and look at the turbo. I hoping it is just a fault in a valve.

Just wondering would anyone here have any ideas if the two things are linked of if this has happened to anybody else?

    Thanks :)

Perhaps could be a coil pack, is the engine running rough when idling?

Thanks for reply. Yes I think so.. but its always been a little rough since I bought it but I did notice it was a little jerkier while waiting at the lights last week. Would this explain the loss of power as well?

Yes it would be down in power but it would be also down in power before turbo kicks in. A code reader is needed to determine the exact fault.

ok thanks for that.. I will have to bring it back in to get checked. I've also read it could be the crank sensor.. whatever it is I hope its not going to cost an arm and a leg to fix!! :(

Could be any number of things. The code scan will point your mechanic in the right direction. Pm me for details of a very good ex vw mechanic who does mobile call outs in the Leinster area...
