    Hi Guys,

I was looking into travelling around China without a tour operator, is there any restrictions on areas you can't visit ?

    Any help appreciated

It's easy to do without a tour operator?

Is there areas in mainland China that are off limits to foreign tourists ?

Don't think so. Should be easy to google. Or if you look on the Chinese embassy website, or ring them. You'll need anyway visa, but that's easy.

If there's somewhere particular that interests you, look on hostelworld and see if there's a hostel. If there is you're in business!

In my experience, hostels have good facilities and can easily sort out any travel needed.
