Nest, Hive, Netamo, EPH Ember - Which one?

We currently have a failing EPH control system. The controller is gone a bit crazy since a recent power cut and I assume it has been fried.

The system has two heating zones (with wireless thermostats) and a hot water system controlled by another wireless stat.

It's worked pretty OK to-date but it's horribly difficult to programme and now that the controller is gone, it might be a good opportunity to upgrade.

    Any suggestions?

The Netamo system looks fairly unfriendly as a UI and the EPH Ember system looks to be unavailable in the Irish AppStore, so I assume it's not properly launched.

    So, probably Nest or Hive?

I have the EPH ember. I like it because it has a physical time clock too so if the internet is down, the novelty of the app wears off or you have someone in the house that won't or can't use the app the time clock can be used.

EPH is the one we recommend to customers. Find it easy to use and explain. In my experience the gadget husband wants remote access and the wife has no interest in it and just wants to be able to switch it on and off!

Nest is expensive, when there is similar and cheaper alternatives. Like the hub controller made here in Ireland. I think hive may only do 2 zones but stand corrected on that. Keep on eye on bord gas for deals on hive. Heatmeiser is nice but difficult to use in my opinion. You also have climote made in Ireland too with 1 to 3 zones but a yearly charge of 36 euro applys.

Is the EPH Ember system even available here? It's coming up as not available in the Irish App Store on iOS.

Yes its available. I'm on android. Try their website for a link to app for apple failing that you'd have to check with EPH technical.

U may be looking for Ember on App Store on your iPad. It’s only available at the moment on iPhone. I’ve installed all but always recommend Eph ember

You can download the Hive app and have a play with it in 'Demo Mode' to see if you like the interface, Hive stats are very user friendly to use also. Like most of the controls, you can use phone, stats and have an emergency override on the receivers too.

For phone compatibility, it's IOS and Android, and also you can create desktop shortcuts on phone/pcs to the web version controller.

Lots of new Hive products online now also that link into it, lights, motion sensors, door/window sensors, cameras, and new products in the pipeline also. Like most it's fully compatible with the likes of Amazon Echo and Alexa too.
