    Hi everyone

How much does fixing a buckled alloy usually cost? I was quoted 50e by the guy who inspected it. Decided not to go with it on the day because I plan on changing the alloys on the car altogether. Now I need to get it done as I have a few unexpected long journeys in the next week. I'm in the Dublin 15 area.

    Thanks

You'd be hard pushed to get it done for less than €50.

    €50 is an absolute bargain.

In fact, that's so cheap. I'd be skepital

I might have done a stupid thing. I decided not to fix the buckled wheel and instead replace all four alloys with second hand ones that look nicer than mine. They're the premium F10 SE alloys, I think they're called style 331. However, the car still sort of shakes, not like before but it still does. So now I'm thinking I need to balance the wheels. How much does this usually cost and should I balance only the front or both sets?

How did you buckle the first alloy? If you hit something major, then it is possible that you have damaged something else in the process. Getting the balancing and tracking done shouldn't be too expensive, 40 or 50 quid maybe.

Did you kerb it badly? Sound like a steering rod.

I didn't do it. I bought it like that. I can definitely feel a difference since I put on the new alloys but it still shakes a little.

Did you check if the new wheels you got were buckled?

I'd start by bring them to a tyre place and have them checked and balanced, discount tyres in Blanchardstown are very good. They have a road force balancing machine there too.

New wheels aren't buckled, I checked before I bought them. I'll give them a go. Thanks
