Great film.. but I’m seeing some stuff I haven’t seen before. Is this a directors cut? For example, I’ve never seen then scene when the terminator tried to smile at a gas station!

Saw it on BBC 1 years ago. It clears up a few little bits that had no contest in the theatrical version.

John Connor really understands his importance very early in this version.

I prefer the original theatrical cut. As is often the case with "director's cut" or "special edition", there's no ultimate better vision being revealed here, it's just an excuse to sell another DVD.

The extra scenes are unnecessary, almost my definition, and they mess with the films pacing.

I'd never seen the bit where the T2000's feet didn't change back after freezing, allowing Sarah to identify it.

Is this the version with the Kyle Reese scene? They never should have cut that

Not so much that they were still frozen as he was meshing with every metal object around him for some reason - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZNE637BeEI (skip to 4:45)

This was my first ever blue ray purchase...the bit where "arnie" jumps off the bridge on his motorcycle when watched in high def is VERY clearly not arnie...or even a lookalike.

Yeah, though this was already pretty obvious even on DVD. T2 was pre-CGI face replacement, which I think was first done on Jurassic Park 2 years later.

I think they 'fixed' that with a digital face swap in the most recent '3D' re-release.

This was obvious on any version you saw

My dad bought the vhs tape years ago when it came out and you could still tell it was not arnie.

I guess it's because the shot is slowed down. Gives you time to spot.

I don't know, here's a previous version and especially with the absence of 50" (or even 40") TVs back most houses in the 90s I don't think I'd have been able to tell, apart from the fact that Arnie never would do a stunt like that anyway.

Also you can clearly see just before the truck explodes that there’s a crash dummy in the drivers seat.
