Factored into salary if permanent. Bill for extra hours if consultant.

All depends on your hourly/daily rate or salary.

Average rates are very misleading, many people doing this work may not have sysadmin title.

I am perm/salaried and get an on call allowance. Think it’s .2 of my hourly rate per hour on call.

I know of a number of mates working in salaried roles where on all is extra payments. Varies dramatically though. Don’t know if I could even give you an average.

That's how it works for me anyway.

Long time since I had to work on call now but when I did... I negotiated 10% of salary for being on call and any times I was paged was billed at 1.5 or 2x my hourly rate (worked out from salary)

Sorry forgot to say I also get paid 1.5/2.0 per hour if I get a call. On call allowance is to carry the phone and be available.

We do a weekly on call, one week in four. Get 40% bonus for that week and €55 for every call. My "systems" rarely generate a call, but some teams can be 20+ calls a week so the deal is more beneficial to high volume teams.

Factored or expected? The latter I have no time for.

Public Sector (HSE) if it's any use is e113 per week on call.24/7 with standard overtime paid per call. Could be anything from 0-15 calls in a busy hospital.
