No signal - saorview channels

It's just my luck - turned on TV and I'm getting 'No signal' on my saorview channels. The FTA channels are all working. How would I know if the problem is with the aerial or has the tuner gone for saorview? I've tried turning it off and on again and a terrestrial rescan but nothing was detected.

I would think the problem is something external to the tuner.

What kind of aerial setup do you have? Are there other TVs connected to it you can try?

No other TVs to check. It's very similar to the last box I had - same thing happened and best advice was to change box and the new box worked.

What do you mean the fta channels are working? Satellite?

My RTE 1 has dissappeared since yesterday . Moved the aerial around but it won't come back . Must be the muggy atmosphere

Could be local transmitter problem, have you any neighbors to check if they are receiving?

Advice from here? Can you link to the old thread?

What kind of box do you have now? Also any info. about your aerial setup could be useful.

Anything so it's not just pure guesswork ...

    No advice from shop.

I have a Sab Triple HD which is about four years old - the length of time I had the previous one.

It's an external aerial - don't know anything else - TV engineer set it up.

Maybe as an other poster said its atmospheric- it did go previously in bad weather and came back. It has rained heavily here all day.

There is water in your TV Aerial cable.

There is nothing wrong with the box. Shops will always tell you to buy a new box :)

Here's hoping!!! Do you think it will sort itself out in a few days?

From the symptoms you describe its sounds like something as simple as water in the cable (not good!!) or at least a loose cable at the aerial end. It could be that the aerial needs to be adjusted.

Does the TV this box is connected to receive saorview ? Try the aerial cable in the TV directly and scan the dvb-t band. If it picks up the stations see can you find a signal meter in the TV menu and see what the signal levels are like.

Just to rule out software problems on the box that can be rectified seperately.

If there is water coming down the cable, don't be letting it find its way anywhere it can do (more) damage. It's probably the reason your previous box needed to be replaced.

And most of the time, pay no heed to people who use 'atmospherics' as an excuse for signal problems.

Check anywhere that there are joins or where the cable comes in from outside.

Make sure it isn't rubbing against the edge of roof tiles or slates.

Check also the connection at the back of the box you're using.

Also when you do a scan, do a full scan and not just a channel scan....

Hope you get it back in time for the Queen's speech later today... ;-)

Yes it's a saorview TV. I put the aerial directly into TV and nothing appeared after scan so I presume it's the aerial and not the box.

The Free to Air channels are working perfectly via satellite. Its the saorview channels from aerial that aren't so I'll be able to see the Queen's speech :)

Make sure your auto tuning range is set to full and do another manual scan
