Replaced FTTH modem with router - VOIP?

I replaced the F2000 with a Sonicwall, directly connected to the FTTH fibre box on VLAN10. Its all working fine, except for the VOIP supplied with the FTTH.

Even if put the F2000 back in and bridge it, VOIP will get disabled by bridge mode. Is there any remedy to this at all? Or will I have to go back the F2000 to retain the VOIP?

If the SW doesnt have its own ATA (I assume it doesnt), you need to configure the F2000 to act as just an ATA and forward the SIP ports, or buy a standalone ATA.

Cool thanks that seems doable - I'll have a play with the SW and F2000 so.

OK - still playing with this. I have the F2000 behind the Sonicwall, and the NAT in place and forwarding to the F2000 WAN port for, 5060 and 5061 TCP&UDP. The F2000 is getting its "WAN" IP from the Sonicwall DHCP. No Joy on the Phone however.

Do I also have to mess with SIP translation or something like outbound NAT too?

Edit:- No, I just needed to reboot the F2000 to re-register the SIP. All good now.

EDIT2:- Hmmm It works for 5 minutes after a reboot of he F2000 and then stops dead - how odd.

Using the WAN port puts the F2000s NAT in place, you dont need that as the SW is doing that for you. The double setup just adds complexity.

Set the F2000 to a static IP inside your home subnet, gw is the SW, then forward the SIP ports to it. Then it should stay up.

Hmm the F2000 doesn't allow setting the gateway (or static route) on an interface other than a WAN interface. I think I'll have to revert to the F2000 as the main router :(
