Hi just wondering if anyone knows if it is generally possible to get a criminal hearing moved from one district to another. Away from where the offence was committed but to the district that you reside in and work in. Thanks

    On what grounds?

As in from what I’ve read it can be heard in the district you normally reside. The offence occurred in a different county to the one I live and work in.

Unless the defendent has a sever disability which makes them immobile then there's no chance a judge will allow a case to be moved just upon a request

Ok thanks guys. Is the case always heard in the same town as the offence was committed in or can it be heard in another town in the same district?

Most towns don't have a Courthouse.

Yes but most courts in most districts sit in a different town each day. In district 7 for example in Louth, there are sittings in Dundalk, Drogheda and Ardee. Can a case be heard in Dundalk for example if the offence was committed on Drogheda?

yes it can ,a case can be heard in the district where the incident happened or adjoining district

but its up to the judge and in very unusual circumstances ,

usually to facilitate a custody matter or something like that

i dont want to take a day off work or i dont like the gardai in that town isn't a good enough reason
