New Build: Gas Heating vs Air to Water Heat Pump

Looking for advice. We recently received planning permission for a new build- two storey detached house, roughly 175 sq metres in size (not including the attic).

A number of decisions to be made but one of the key ones is which heating system to install. Our architect has recommended an air to water heat pump system. I'm really just trying to understand the pros and cons of the various options before deciding.

From what little I do know and have read, heat pumps are a lot more common in Ireland than they would've been say ten years ago and all new housing estates seem to be going with the heat pump systems.

    Any opinions or experiences welcome.

For those in the know if you were building a new house which one would you go for?

    Thanks

Air to water heat pump all the way, make sure the household heating demand is designed around it.

your architect has probably included the heat pump to comply with partL of the building regs

+1 on the air to water heat pump. 75% or more of new builds were currently doing are heat pumps. Satisfies part l easily plus far more economical heating system and no panels on roof that you only get a few months use out of

Given this system is still relatively new to the Irish market is there a risk that the longer term benefits/cons aren't fully known yet?
