So I got reading about Roma, they have their own courts, customs and ways. That got me thinking about our Irish travellers who are not organised. Feuding amongst each other. Why hasn't some uniting force come to the fore. They could be master criminals but no. Then I thought Futher, they are typical of Irish folk that do everything in half measures.

The Circuit Court is a sort of a traveling court.

    Merry Christmas.

I was at a DNA genetic history conference a couple of months ago, and one of the talks was about the Irish Travellers. Genetically, they are completely Irish, and with no disrespect, they are probably a bit more Irish because they keep to themselves. They veered away from everyday Irish society in the 1600s. (The boxer Francie Barrett was one of the people who took part in the DNA trial.)

They're like typical Irish people from about pre famine times, in a way. Arranged marriages, having huge numbers of children, obsession with the Virgin Mary and religious shrines. Even traveller feuds are basically an extension of faction fighting which died out in the general Irish population circa 1840s.

    Interesting perspective.

If travellers organised they could run criminal enterprises in this country. They are renoun for omerta. They don't talk to country folk. A strong traveller leader is required.

The Roma are organized because they haven’t got the propensity to drink and fight that the Travellers have.
The drinking and fighting have stopped the travellers from ever progressing themselves at all. Seeking revenge for imagined slights and insults is a full time occupation for many traveller men, and, increasingly women.
When your day has no structure or purpose and you are not being asked to contribute anything to the world, that’s what happens.

Yes. I believe that too. Some of the culture they are maintaining is one of a pre educated rural Irish society. However people in that society did have to farm and maintain goods. Which travellers used to do actually.

Are you feckin' kidding me? The PIRA were perhaps the most accomplished, organised, and long-lived terrorist organisation of all time. The Kinahan Cartel runs businesses and drugs operations all over Europe and yet their senior members have managed to largely evade justice for years and years. Anglo Irish Bank's senior gobsh!tes managed to get away with a fraud operation which brought down not only the entire Irish banking system but most of Europe's as well.

I'm sorry but as far as crime goes, the Irish are world leaders, pioneers, and innovators. Have some f*cking pride in your country, dammit!

Alright, the next time I'm accosted by hardcore class prefects/feminists when I'm trying to do a narcissism PSA, I'll take it to private. I had a bit of a job digging myself out of the sudden charges, and many things were left incomplete or stated insensitively in relation to the social situation and attendant feelings in Ireland today.

If only there were some sort of ‘King of the Travellers.’

They're anything but idiots, travellers are involved in high level organised crime in this country. Their clan system is perfect for the operation of rackets.

There's an innate cunningness and street smartness about many Pavee men.

A thread attacking both travellers and Ireland as a whole, at the same time.

    Merry Christmas AH :D
