Fingers crossed I'm due to get Eir ftth installed next month.I've read alot that the supplied modem is crap , bad wi fi etc. What would be a good replacement under 200 euro ?Home use , big bungalow lots of block walls.
I know they replace them but no point in sticking with the same model if all the posts about them are true.

dont believe all the comments, wi fi has lots of contraints and set up badly from the outset causes all the problems. i have ftth since nov 2015 and the f2000 is still going strong, and in a bungalow. also the kit you have has a big bearing on speeds, old lapops or phones will ... give slow speeds, and how fast do want wi fi, i get 60mb down on a 7 year old macbook about 30 feet from router on 2.5. i get 48mb on aniphone 6 at same distance. i dont go checking speeds all over the place, its just very very fast when you go from 38mb down to 945mb down. i have tried 3 netgear nighthawks, they are rubbish they cant handlle above 400mb, but i have a very old asus rt n66u and its just 20 mb slower than the f2000 but wi fi is better. i have router in middle of bungalow and eir put ont next to it so make sure you pick best spot for router. if you really want a good wi fi look at this ausus

nb bear in mind you have to know how to configure it for ftth but its on here and you have to load a different software, its merlin something, easy peasy.

i get 945mb down and 98mb up, ping is 7ms on a dell desktop 3 years old 32gb ram and 3.7ghz cpu plus a blindingly fast video card.

you will love it as it runs loads of stuff with no bother. try the f2000 for a bit and its best to wait in case you have teething problems. the inteface on the f2000 is poor.

Some of the f2000s are bad, probably a poor batch. My 1st one was bad from start, constant loss of signal and wifi. Second one has had zero problems for about 4 months now.

I got a F2000 modem and my wifi is fair at best. But with a wired network I do get a fairly good bang from my ftth connection epaecially on my desktop PC. Probably will consider replacing the router if there is a good compatible out there.
