It looks as if this is not "inbuilt", maybe it is?

Is there a way to lock the drive via a password?

    Just to be aware

    TrueCrypt - Wikipedia:
On 28 May 2014, the TrueCrypt official website, truecrypt.org, began redirecting visitors to truecrypt.sourceforge.net with a HTTP 301 "Moved Permanently" status, which warned that the software may contain unfixed security issues,

I found this to be interesting reading.

Wikipedia has "Legal cases" stories about agencies, with "top end" resources available on their hands, failing to break encryption.
Leaves you wonder: why developer themselves shut it down? Was it just political game and they where forced to do so in favor of Microsoft's BitLocker?

    FISA Courts.

They can't say they got ordered, but they can say dont use our stuff. Exact same way some ISPs have "Warrant Canary" pages. They cant announce a FISA order against them, but if that webpage suddenly stops being served then you know the game is up.

If you have a "business" version of windows 2000 or later then your operating system can encrypt individual files using EFS, they appear green in lists.

EncFS is available for most OS's https://encfsmp.sourceforge.io/ if you want something cross platform.

The whole paranoia about file encryption is best explained here https://xkcd.com/538/

(if you are paranoid about TLA's then use at lest two schemes as one will be found to be leaky eventually)
