Baby seat suggestions

    Hi,
My 8 month baby is not sitting on the rear faced car seat. He a bit more taller than the other babies in the age group and he is not at all comfortable with the seat. I am looking to buy a new one. The items I found on symths are way too expensive. If some one could suggest a good one, that would be very helpful

Extensive thread discussing the topic here: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056754865

Rear facing is recommended for as long as possible (up to 4+ years) as it is supposed to be 5 times safer than forward facing. RF seats are typically more expensive than forward facing though.

Plenty other online sites other than Smyths to check for price.

We had the same issue, we couldn't find a rear facing seat that was big enough for our 9 month old.

How a 1 yo, nevermind a 4 yo is suppposed to be comfortable in any of the rear facing ones we looked at, I don't know, unless they are very short.

Went for a front facing seat that was adaptable from 6 months to 12 years in the end.

I am also thinking of the same. Anyway, today evening I am planning to visit smyths and some babystore

We have 2 joie spin 360 seats. Got both of them in Smyths at different times with 20% off.

Our tall 2 year old still fits perfectly fine rearward in it.

We have a Concord reverso plus (isofix) and a Britax Maxway- both of which are rear facing and suitable up to approx 4 years. My 2 year old is very comfortable in these seats with plenty of space for growth.

Rearward facing up to 4 years is recommended as it is shown to be far safer than forward facing, as mentioned previously they can be more expensive but it is something that you are going to use numerous times per day, everyday for a few years so worth it imo.

There are lots of good videos that show the benefit of extended rear facing and the principles behind it, google internal decapitation.

And just to add, Tony Kealys is highly recommended for car safety. The RSA does alot of training with the TK staff so it's worth a visit.

I have a 3 year old in a rear facing minikid and a 5 year old in a rf besafe izi plus. Not a bother on either on them.

At last I bought joie Tilt from smyths. Seems like my LO started loving it

While I've had great experience with the staff in Tony Kealys in Galway I've also had one girl who didn't know her arse from her elbow try to install a seat in my car.

It was enough to make me walk away from the store. She shouldn't have been anywhere near the car seats.
