I'm thinking particularly about what is perpetually discussed in the media at this time of year.

    1 Homelessness
    2 Loneliness
3 Poorness - lack of wealth

I'm not particularly into xmas myself, take it or leave it, more leave it, but the whole period, in the media particularly, seems to be the used as a reason to bring up every social problem we have.

But isn't that really weird - wouldn't you think xmas was the one time in the year we could forget about all these kinds of issues. The one time of the year for a couple of days that we think that everything is fine and dandy in the world.

But we find quite the opposite, every social issue is brought up. Can we not have even a week in the year where we can actually enjoy ourselves and not feel guilty about it.

At xmas, lonely ppl are made to feel more lonely - simply by bringing the subject up. Ppl who have lost someone in their life through death are forced to remember their loved one's from xmas's past.

Why do this, it's nonsense, and unnecessary.

To finish this up, I was watching a daytime chatshow this afternoon (not a regular occurrence) , and the topic of discussion was how to deal with difficult ppl on xmas day, namely relatives. How ironic that xmas is considered to be about family when at the same time is would seem family are your greatest enemy! I can certainly vouch for that.

I suppose what I'm getting at is is xmas actually worthwhile?
