outside light (rusty cover)

    i am looking to change the lightbulb on ourdoor light (pic attached) but screw on lid is rusty and wont open.
    tried to turn it with pliers but no luck.
    any sugesstions?

    Give it a good spray of WD 40 and leave it overnight.
    If when you try it in the morning there is no give it may break off if you persist.

    spray a bit of wd 40 leave soak over night and use a vise grips, if it shears drill it out and retap

    Its aluminium so its not just rust, I'd just replace the whole fitting.

    Not a bad idea. You can get those fittings in plastic now and they last much better.
    If you need a hack to get over Christmas just put the vice grips on and break off the top of the bolt. This will allow you to remove light cover and change bulb.
    When you put the light cover back in place the second bolt will hold it temporarily.
