Just looking for peoples opinions on this. I’ve a bunch of 8 month old dairy cross weanling bulls that I have not squeezed yet. Is it a bad idea to do them while they are housed? They have loads of room In the shed

I got the vet to squeeze a bunch this time last year last year. Some were very strong around 12 months old 450kgs. Everything was fine. He said the best thing is loads of exercise out pererrably. He said don’t band too much of s risk of black leg.

Keep them well bedded for a while afterwards and don't do them if the neck of scrotum, where the clamping is happening, is dirty.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.

Its the wrong time to castrate the moon is waxing if you squeeze them now they will swell. Leave them until the moon is waning and they wont swell as much.
What do they teach you young fellas these days?:D

    Would this affect compensatory growth?

Likewise, squeeze at turnout in the spring, always been part of the routine, i think it's just habit,

When I was 15/16 we always used to squeeze when we gave the second dose of Dictol. Day or two's work dosing and squeezing a couple of batches, day off school for me to help out as well!

Did a bunch of similar fellas here yesterday, on straw bed, let them out for a few hours today to stretch their legs. Back in on straw this evening

I'm a fan of banding rather than squeezing. Do them with the 10 in 1 and let them off in spring, it won't even knock them.
