    Surprised there's been no comment on this here yet. Two French companies, both controlled by French telecoms billionaire Xavier Niel, are to buy 64.5% of Eir between them. The other 35.5% remains with its current investment fund owners. This was what the current management team were brought on to do - that or float it on the stockmarket - and they stand to make a lot of money on the deal.

    M. Niel is quite a character, I read. Back in 200 he was given a suspended jail sentence for misusing some of his companies' funds to back some sex shops he also happened to own ... hey, at least he has a life! :P
