    Hey all.
I am looking to buy a new car in Jan/Feb, outright with no finance, but trying to get some scrappage value out of my 2002 Clio.
Which brands are offering the best scrappage deals typically, looking at perhaps a Leon, Ibiza, Pulsar or Megane territory?
    Thanks!

There should be information on each of the manufacturer's websites including terms and conditions. Some have stipulations around how old the car can be, has to have valid NCT, etc.

Understood bazz, so not typically something an individual would be negotiable on? Was hoping to play them off against one another!
For example, Seat say 3000 on the Leon and 2000 on the Ibiza, but if i was willing to do an Ibiza with some extras, what chance of getting 3000?

Generally speaking it's the manufacturer that is giving the discount (scrappage rate) so the dealer should still have his margin to make so there is probably some further movement after the scrappage discount. The best thing to do is go in and test the ice with them.

If you buy a Nissan Micra which is a really good car now again you get 2 for 1 so you would have a new car next year and then again in 2019 and its part of Nissan's scrappage deal too I think or it was but if its not still on it will be back in January more than likely. Just want make sure you read the small print before you sign up to it you do decide on that deal.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I think you need to pay list price for the Micra. No point in buying a Nissan without a big discount IMO.

Yes you have to pay the full list price so no such thing as a free lunch.

Apart from being pretty, that is the worse Micra ever...

I don't actually think it's pretty. If it was called the Nissan *anything else* it would just be a tall, narrow, overstyled supermini. But because it's a Micra and the bar has been not just been set low, as much as just being left sitting on the ground for the last 20 years - it's just noteworthy to have a Micra that doesn't look like total ****. It will date horribly.

The interior is awesome (IMHO of course), I'd take that fake leather over the hard plastics found anywhere else every time.

Yes but you get two cars for the price of one and its not like the Micra is old like the Qushqui is.

I agree it looks like a proper car and not a Micra anymore. Nothing wrong with that interior for that class of car, I’d see no issue buying one

The new Polo might be worth a look for the op especially if your Clio is a diesel and qualify for the eco grant
