Big Red Cloud End of Year

Hi, wondering can somone help me out.

I do my accounts through Big Red Cloud.

2016 accounts filled, tax paid, all good.

However, I have not completed my end of year in BRC for 2016 as I have not put in my opening balances. 2016 was my first year using BRC so I'm unsure as to what opening balances should be what.

My accountant is currently un-contactable until after Christmas and I would love to get my 2017 entries wrapped up over the Christmas period.

My question is, if only my opening balances (not supplier balances) are missing is there anything to stop me carrying out my end of year and progressing to 2017. My understanding (and this could be totally wrong) is that opening/closing balances may differ from end 2016 to start 2017 based on my "accounts". Would this be correct?
