Can you progress to Semester 2 if you fail more than 10 credits in Semester 1?

My understanding is you can only carry forward up to 10 credits into the next stage, but I was wondering does this rule apply to semester 1 as well? Basically, I feel like I failed 3 modules but I know if I work much harder next semester I would be able to handle 9 modules if only UCD would let me progress.

You should be able to continue to semester 2, but you will need to repeat/resit the modules you failed in semester 1.
