4 weeks notice for test

I applied for a repeat test back in August after an abysmal failure in July. I received no emails from the RSA regarding the date so got curious and yesterday I checked the RSA website just to see was there an issue with my application.

When I checked the website it said my test date was 2nd January 2018 which only gives me 2 weeks to prepare (over which a lot of instructors will have time off). I have been practicing driving since august but have only had one or two lessons so am nowhere near test standard.

I was just wondering has this happened to anybody else, as my understanding was that I was supposed to be given four weeks notice, but I have not received any emails or texts about it?

For my previous test, they emailed me 4 or 5 weeks in advance as expected. I looked into changing the date but nothing was available until after March/April so this is also not ideal.

These are the rules for cancelling your test:
An alternative test appointment will be made for you, if you:

have not previously cancelled more than two appointments and you give at least 10 days notice.
do not attend because there are dangerous road conditions locally and you advise us as soon as possible on the day of the test.

You will lose your fee if you:

give less than 10 days notice
    OR
have already cancelled two test appointments

You should be able to do so without much hassle. But I would tend to think there is time to prepare. Call your instructor and tell them the situation and see what lessons you can book in now.

How does one check on the RSA website for application status?
