Hi everyone, I got a letter inviting me to n information session and meeting with seetec. I googled them and read awful stories about them. I am genuinely looking for work and have been close to getting hired a few times but lost out in second rounds of interviews. I recently finished an online course and feel I am much more employable now. I don't want to sign up for this company and allow them to get paid for me getting a job which I feel I will get soon. But if I don't go to this meeting what will happen? If I go, can I refuse to sign their forms or would there be consequences? Just don't know what my best course of action is as I don't want to be cut off Jobseeker's payment but also don't want to give all the power to them? I don't want to be bullied into bad jobs or them to get paid for me finding my own job. Thanks

Loads of threads on here about this, read carefully. Create new email address, only use this address for the full duration of your time with them. Discard address when complete, or when it suits you. Get a new SIM, same as email address... Best of luck

Short answer is, dont stress over it, you don’t have any choice, if you want to keep your JSA payment you must co operate with them in every way.
Please disregard everything you’ve read as it’s all irrelevant anyway.
If you get a job of your choicewhile your with Seetec well and good. If you do end up with a job you don’t like then there’s nothing to stop you from continuing to search but Jobseekers only allows you to pick and choose for so long.
Once again don’t stress, just co operate and you’ll be fine.

disagree with a lot there, they do actually have options, but they probably shouldnt be acted upon yet. this actually could be a positive experience for the op,and may yield a job, and a job they like. you dont actually have to fully cooperate, you can of course exercise your rights under many different laws if need be, but there probably wont be any need to do so.

some information will of course be irrelevant but some will be very relevant.

upon starting the program, you maybe assigned a person who will look after your needs throughout the process. within the first couple of sessions, you maybe asked some questions, from a questioner, by this assigned person. this is done for a multiple of reasons, including getting to know you, to cater for your actual needs, i.e. what kind of jobs you re looking for, and what kind of jobs may suit you etc, but unfortunately this is also done to gather data on you, that maybe used for reasons that may not necessarily help you and in fact may hinder you. id recommend being 'conservative' upon answering these questions, and think of the possible actual questions theyre asking you, a bit like a job interview, i.e. what are they actually asking you, what information are they actually trying to get here etc.

if you do manage to get a job yourself, without seetecs help, completely disconnect from them, i.e. delete your new email address and destroy your new sim. best of luck

it's not as bad as some people make out. i've been on this course for a few months and if your genuinely looking for work you'll get help there. if you start arseing them about they can have your money cut,but if you play the game you'll be fine.

Thanks for this. How do I play the game? Also how is it? Do you have to go to meetings every week? And how long is each meeting?
    Thanks so much

I really appreciate this. I was stressing so much about this. Do you think it's best I just go to the meeting and sign what they ask me to sign? I just read horror stories about signing their things because then they have rights over you and what jobs you can take etc. I don't want them hassling my future employer etc
I'm sure if I refused to sign, they would tell the department I amnt co-operating, is that right?

As I said, you don’thave any choice if you want to keep your current payment, that’s just the way it is.

You'll go to a few meetings in your first two or three weeks which are around 30/40 minutes long, you have to apply for two jobs between meetings with your 'supervisor ' which is every 3/4 weeks, you then attend groups every now and again. It's nowhere as bad as it's made out, don't get stressed out about it.
The people who work there are nice enough and will talk you through things on yourfirst couple of visits .

I'm with Turas Nua now. My advise to you would be to go along with them. As much as I detest the whole scam, it would only make your like difficult if you went with the mindset of not co-operating.
Signing the contract is widely disputed, some say it has no legal backing that you have to sign etc. Yet, if you don't and your Personal Adviser (PA) is of a certain way, your benefits could be stopped/reduced as a penalty.
I go to the meetings, remain open-minded to their suggestions (which has not been difficult as since last May they have suggested one job to me, and had me do a CV course twice.....!!!!) Then in my own time I carry on job-searching as usual.
If you fight against them, you will never win. So hopefully you will find work and get out away from them asap!
    Good Luck
