    Hi,

I've recently gotten my first job and im 7 weeks in, i get paid weekly and i've noticed that my emergency is increasing and is now up to €40 a week. I only work two-three days a week as im in college so the €40 is a huge chunk of money for me.

When i got the job i applied and registered with revenue online and registered my job in the jobs and pensions section. I'm wondering is there anymore i can do to come off emergency tax or is there a certain amount of time i have to be on it.

Try ringing them and asking for them to send your tax credits cert on to your employer. You'll need your employer's tax number. It might be possible to do it all online now but this is what worked for me in the past.

If he registered the job already on Jobs and pension section ringing revenue is not needed. Check your documents section on myaccount if a new credit cert is in there check if you are on normal basis or week 1 basis. They forward a copy onto your payroll department and ask them to update their records. They should have gotten a copy as well but some can be slow to update the records

Ah didn't know it could be done online now, that's fantastic.

as its so late in the year you might not get it sorted in this tax year. You will get refunded any overpaid taxes though so request a p21 Balancing statement in 2018 soon as you have rec'd your P60 from employer. Also check that you start 2018 on the correct tax basis.
