Saddened to read this. Seems to have been very quick illness. Watched him so often on ATR I felt like I knew him

Saddened to see this news this morning. Relatively young and very popular figure in Irish racing:

    Very sad news.
He was a really good handicapper, and with a lovely personality. He probably had his ear bent by a handful of trainers looking for preferential treatment but kept to the task. I always enjoyed when he was interviewed on the television, as you learnt a lot listening to him.

Knew him a little bit just to chat to at the races. One of the loveliest fellas you could meet and his knowledge of horses was formidable. Very saddened by this, far too young an age to go like that, R.I.P. and condolences to his family and loved ones.

He always hung around the parade ring for chats, our trainer had a cut at him one day about putting our mare up a couple of pounds for coming second, even though they both knew she was still well handicapped. Big laugh from Noel, he enjoyed the cat and mouse stuff with the trainers.
    He will be missed.

Had a few chats with him over the years, much like that article says you'd expect him to be cagey and reserved in that role but he was the exact opposite. RIP
