    Hi Folks,

Just wondering has anybody used a synology NAS for running a VM server,

Basically I'm looking to run Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition on it with FileMaker server to run as a server application, usage will be light for the next year or so.

We use a DS415+ as our file server and works well for that purpose, I like the interface and they have a simple and cost effective cloud backup solution.
However this model wouild not be able to run a server as well.

budget is sub 2K, or maybe I'm just better off getting a HP ProLiant.
I would like to set up a domain server too but it's not essential as we only have 10 employees at present

Syn boxes are based on low power chips, not designed for proper x86 workloads.

A HP Microserver or similar would be what you want.
