Looking at this VW Golf

Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this car re: price, dealer, the car itself, and any potential alternatives?

    http://www.evramotors.ie/viewanad.php?ad_id=1898627&r=

Main usage would be to and from work, no more than 15km return a day - and then weekend shopping trips - maybe back and forth between Dublin and Waterford once a month also.

Have always wanted a Golf so am tempted seeing as our last car is on it's way out.

    Thanks!

You'd probably be better off with the petrol 1.2 with that sort of mileage.

Also keep in mind that the trendline is the lowest spec version.

Looks like someone threw aftermarket alloy wheels on it as it's a base model so the spec is pretty poor. I'd wait until the new year for a better speced car when there will be a wider choice of higher spec cars traded in against new ones.

There are going to be a glut of pcp returns in the new year, plus I recall vw selling mostly highline models due to a lower finance rate.

High miles on that car too.

Do you own a 40ft barge pole? If so, don't use it. Miles too high and at that mileage you'd be better off with a nice petrol model.

Am I missing something here? 36k miles on a 2 year old diesel Golf being considered too high? I'd rather 18k miles per year on a diesel car than one with tiny mileage just used to go to the shops.

I don't know if they were specced on the car originally, but they are VW alloys.

They could well be but they just look like reps with VW centre caps to me.

They are definitely reps, you can tell quite clearly by the offset for a start.
