I've been lucky enough to be given some gorgeous vintage cardigans from around the 1940s/50s.
I'm looking for ideas on how to wear them without looking like a really old lady.
I was thinking of skinny jeans but not sure how to pull it together. What do I wear underneath it ?
One of them is duck egg blue with a round neck, it's got lots of lovely sparkly beads and buttons. It's lined so it's quite heavy and looks something like this but much nicer and more vibrant.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

I would wear simple t-shirt underneath. If it's a shorter fitted cardigan you can wear it with wide leg trousers. If not fitted trousers would be better but in any case I would go for something simple underneath.

    These sound absolutely fab!

I wear 40s and 50s vintage and vintage repro all the time but that look can feel a bit OTT/costumey if it's not your usual style.
I would pair a cardy like this with a simple blouse or plain polo neck top and a high waisted pencil skirt (good for any height) or high waisted wide leg pants (but only if you're fairly tall, oh to be tall!).
Open over a plain coloured swing dress would give you full on 50's, or a plain wiggle dress for a more chic twist on the vintage look.

Avoid crazy patterns or polka dots or anything too technicolour bright for a more authentic vintage feel.

Whatever way you decide to wear these pieces you're a lucky duck - enjoy them!
    :):)

Thanks for the help, I can always depend on the lovely people here.
I'm 5ft zero, so the wide leg pants are out (I'm in the oh to be tall club too).
I love the idea of a simple white blouse under this particular cardi.
I was lucky enough to be given 2 shorter cardigans, they are by Helen Bond Carruthers and are fabulous.

I tend to wear these with dresses/skirts.
It's not just the clothes but I love the stories behind them. I was given them by a friend whose Aunt was working in New York back in the 1940s and she brought back some amazing clothes/bags/shoes.

    Dress and boots.
    Teeshirt and jeans.
Make sure accessories are modern - handbag, footwear, chunky bangle etc.

Thanks a million for that tip, never thought of putting modern accessories but it's a great idea. Cheers !
