Oil tank lid

Hi I'm just wondering would it be possible to repair and oil tank lid? A long time ago the lid was frozen and I stupidly hit it a few times with the handle of a screwdriver and broke a small hole in it. Its about the size of a 2c coin I think.

At the time I just watched it up with lots of tape and it was fine until a week or two ago when I got a delivery. The driver couldn't get it off so start pulling at the tape and took it all off so I'd like to repair if possible or replace. I'm in Kildare if anyone could recommend a place to buy one.

No idea who provided it. I moved in at the end of 2013 and it was here already. It's a harlequin tank

Oil company will know the make. I have used a 30cm Square of lead in the past. Just place it on opening and tap it down around the opening.
A pic might help someone here to identify it.

I noticed in the yard I get my oil from they have old tanks that are going for recycling. If you could post a pic they might have one there.

Try above, or better still the manufacturers in Northern Ireland.

Those lids had a habit of splitting anyway, so i would be surprised if lids aren't readily available.

Thanks for the link. I asked my oil supplier and he said kingspan tanks are the same or similar so I contacted them and they said they should able to supply a lid and will get back to me tomorrow.

Get oil man or service engineer to do a test on the oil tank for water in the bottom, next time they call.
    Google " water finding paste"
Water will destroy oil pump if enough gets into the tank, that it comes out the supply pipe.

Saucepan with a heavy block will substitute as a temporary lid, often not so temporary.

The lid I have still covers it fine and it isn't letting water in but I'd like to get a replacement anyway. Thanks for all the suggestions.
