I live in a German City Center so having a "normal" car is a complete non-starter.

I use Car Sharing (Car2Go) for the standard Smart Four Two and its great around the City, even for short spins on the Autobahn it's not too bad.

Handy being able to park in a ping almost anywhere.

Any thing to look out for ?

Looking at going second hand and spending around 8k

I have been to numerous "German City Centres" and have seen many normal cars there.

As for buying advice. Is there no German motor forum you could ask on?

You are likely to get more relevant responses from people that know the German used car market and would be in a better position to advise.

Not if you live in the Altstadt, parking is at a premium. From using car sharing Car2go and drive now it takes me much less time to find a space for a smart than abnormal car
Many car parks have spaces specifically for smart cars also.

I'm not German so .. no German forums wouldn't be that useful
