    A plane and a 911?

Someone won the Lotto on Saturday.

New car would be the cost of repayments, tax, insurance, fuel and maintenance.
It would have a warranty so there shouldn't be any additional repair costs.

A used one, how long is a piece of string. They say to keep an older 911 right put by 6k a year....that's before tax/insurance/fuel.

Well I see one advertised for 131k

Probably be worth 70k at 3 years old so 20k depreciation per year averaged out over 3 years.
    Tax 2350
    Insurance maybe 2000 per year
Tyres and maintenance maybe 3000 per year
so 27k per year plus fuel.

A nice well used 997 on the other hand at maybe 40k could be a reasonable proposition.
    depreciating maybe 6000 per year
    tax 1809
    insurance 2000
    tyres and maintenance 3000

15k per year plus fuel & major unforeseen maintenance.

Cute, but hardly comparable to a modern 911.

I think that if OP was really flush enough to buy a new Porsche he would be at the dealership instead of here :)

Here is one for a mere 135K

That is just sexual, but I've a hard enough time keeping my licence with my current car.

Anyone with this sort of money will lease, unless they are buying a special or rare edition that will appreciate or hold its value. Very wealthy people don't buy depreciating assets such as cars.

I almost bought a 3.2 Boxster S before my current car and the running costs were very high, I'll see can I dig out the figures I did at the time.

    Tax on a new 911 Carerra PDK is 570 per year. 169 g/km CO2, 0-100 km/h in 4.2 secs.

Most high-value supercars are owned by companies who lease them. Or the company of a high-value individual, who can write off the depreciation on their books.

I can assure you, no one with serious money will burn it on buying a car that will drop 20k a year in depreciation. Why do that when you can have the latest model for the year at less of a monthly cost? Wealthy people are wealthy for a reason as they watch where their money goes.

Your inflexion point occurs when you hit the guys who own a Bugatti, Zonda or Koenigsegg. That's when you have money to buy a Ferrari or two and leave it sitting somewhere for a year, possibly never even driving it. Bugatti drivers have jet and yacht problems, not 911 ones :pac:

I didnt even check. I just assumed they were still max tax.
169g CO2 - exactly the same figure as my current car.

997's dont depreciate 6k a year, Porsche's in general have very little depreciation relatively. I reckon 3k a months on a new one, assuming a decent deposit is about right.

A decent 997 won't depreciate much, if at all, if you look after it.
